A scientific study by Cardiff University, shows that playing with dolls like Barbie can help kids develop empathy. And if a doll can help a child develop empathy, then a doll can help change the world.
We spread empathy in places that grown-ups needed it most. Starting with Twitter. We replied to all the positive, kind, and thoughtful tweets we could find with video responses from kids.
We then turned to another place that needs empathy – the news. We worked with The Washington Post to create, for the first time ever, an Empathy Issue. Curated by Barbie. Everything in the Empathy Issue reported on the GOOD in our world today - both big and small.
